Did a Chicago Teen Kill is Brother Over the “Flappy Bird” Game?

A story circulating online claims that a Chicago teen was arrested for killing his brother over the “Flappy Bird” game. Is this real or fake?

The story is fake.

The article comes from the humorous website huzlers.com. The same website was responsible for a couple of hoaxes that went viral in late 2013, including the kidnapping of Vine star Lil Terio, and the shooting of YouTube “star” Sharkeisha.

Update: Huzlers has published another fake “Flappy Bird” story, writing that the developer committed suicide. Read more about that article here.

In the fake article, we read:

CHICAGO – Chicago Teenager arrested of killing his own brother after his brother achieved a higher score on popular game ‘Flappy Bird’. Reports say the teen was jealous of his brother and couldn’t take the anger.

Gary Wright, 16 years old, was playing ‘Flappy Bird’ with his Brother, Jabari Wright, 17 years old, when Jabari reached a score of 17 in the game. Things quickly got out of hand when Jabari kept teasing Gary about his high score, which was 6. Gary allegedly stabbed Jabari with a knife 17 times in the chest, referencing his high score of 17. Gary himself called the police after he killed his brother and turned himself in. The Brothers’ parents have refused to speak to reporters.

The fake news account above is not corroborated by any reputable news source.

The Huzler’s article includes a mugshot of the alleged killer. The photo, however, was lifted from a 2009 Manatee County, Florida burglary report.

About Huzler’s

Huzler’s description states, “Huzlers.com is a combination of real shocking news and satire news to keep its visitors in a state of disbelief.”

Bottom Line

A Chicago teen did not kill his brother over the “Flappy Bird” game. The website which published the article is humorous in nature.

Guys, the creator of flappy bird got sued for using Mario pipes, Katie that seems to be the explanation and I bet the creator doesn’t give a sh-t about the people who use it since he won’t be the one sued by the people if they will focus on the people who kill each other/themselves.

The creator didn’t get sued, that’s a rumor.
