Texting While Driving Billboard: Real or Hoax?

Texting While Driving Billboard: Real or Hoax?

A billboard warns drivers of the dangers of texting while driving – and also encourages them to send a text for more info. Is this billboard real or fake?

It’s fake.

The image being circulated contains the following text:

Texting while driving KILLS

For more driving tips, text “SAFETY” to 79191

The image, however, was part of a Cracked.com article entitled 17 Counterproductive Public Service Announcements from 2010. The article was a collection of user-created images portraying ironic PSA’s. Below is the full-sized image, which ranked as #15 on their list.

If you continue through the slideshow, you’ll see the exact same backdrop used for #6 on the list as well:

Bottom Line

The photo of a billboard prompting drivers to text for more info about texting while driving is a joke posted to cracked.com.
