Welcome to Louisiana Gun Warning Sign: Real or Hoax?

A Welcome to Louisiana gun warning sign includes a message for criminals and terrorists about the gun carrying population in the state. Is this sign real?

It’s fake.

We’re not sure of the origin, but it appears to have been created a joke, and the text was lifted from a similar joke photo for another state that we discussed a few months ago. Let’s take a look at the fake Louisiana sign, which reads:

Attention Criminals, Terrorists
Over 170,000 Louisiana residents have a legal permit to carry a handgun
They are armed and prepared to defend themselves and others against acts of criminal violence.

Illinois and Chicago, however, have been disarmed for your convenience.

All of the text aside from “Welcome to Louisiana” appears to have been added digitally. Below you can see the altered image and an un-altered “Welcome to Louisiana” sign, which looks quite different.

The text included in this fake sign appears to have been lifted from a “Welcome to Wisconsin” gun warning sign which circulated recently. This would explain the “Illinois and Chicago” reference, as Illinois neighbors Wisconsin.

Real "Welcome to Louisiana" sign

Here is a real “Welcome to Louisiana” sign.

Even though the text in the photo is fake, there are many gun owners who agree with the sentiment. Have you seen this sign circulated online? What is your opinion of it?

Note that this is the third such Welcome state sign we’ve seen over the past few months. Take a look at the other two:

Bottom Line

The “Welcome to Louisiana” sign which offers a warning to criminals is fake.

My opinion is that, if so many people in Louisiana carry guns, then maybe one of them should have stopped the guy who shot ten people on Mother’s Day.
Still waiting for that to happen. Once. Ever.

Well M, it is sad that no one in Louisiana was able to stop that crime, however if you are still waiting to read about armed, law-abiding gun owners stopping crimes then you aren’t looking very hard. It happens almost every day in America, but the mainstream media won’t report on much of it because it does not fit their anti-gun narrative. If your mind is open, simply visit gunssavelives.net to view some of those stories. That site alone has documented over 1000 defensive gun uses where a law abiding citizen used his gun to safe a life or stop a crime. In many of those incidents no shots are fired and no one is hurt, which is why traditional crime statistics under report defensive gun use, because those stats only record incidents in which a gun is fired. I hope you visit this site, perhaps it will provide you with a different perspective of gun owners and guns than what MSNBC spews forth on a nightly basis. Have a great day!

When offenders are stopped by gun owners it isn’t reported – it girs against the popular theory.
